It’s the return of the pessimistic optimist, listen/

Who’s constantly driven by the power of positive thinking/

It moves the cogs and the pistons, gives a shock to the system/

And kept me going when nobody had offered assistance/

From the top I watch them off in the distance/

Minions with popular opinions, what is the difference?

A pen and pad to me is like a cross to a Christian/

And if they’re spitting on the mic then I’m like God to these sinners/

They have troubl hitting a note, do re mi/

I don’t rate ‘m, I don’t even give ‘em a sympathy vote/

I pull the strings with a singular stroke/

They’re a voice in the choir, they admire me, the symphony’s coach/

You thought I was dead but I’m unzipping the body bag/

And crawling out, I’m calling down upon you for my honour badge/

On a bad day I swallow bitter pills while you lollygag/

I’ve been patient, now I’m back, how’s that for a humble brag?

With open ears I’m hearing clearer than I ever have/

The weather pattern has been interfering with the mental map/

Now the roads are open and I’m steering into heavy traffic/

But I’ve come too far in this to gear it down and pedal backwards/

‘Cause I’m ready to put in the work/

I’m motivated, over waiting for a push or a turn/

Even with a foot in the door, I stood in the dirt/

They should have seen it coming but now they’re looking absurd/

I tackled every set back and conquered every obstacle/

Making a name for myself was never optional/

Watch me accomplish everything they said’s impossible/

Beware ‘cause there ain’t any spare beds in hospital/

I was busy watching satellites and shooting stars/

While you spent Saturday nights having pints at uni bars/

Stop in your tracks like a train of cattle to a moving car/

Get off your saddle, if you came to battle, I’m the coup de grace
