And how I’ve gone so far away to still be here with the moon.

The light upon the distant hills pretends it’s still.

This city’s men and women move across the roofs.

The laughter from an open window more than hints at teen girls.

The mosque aligns with clouds both pink and gray.

The last reflected light off a building.

What do you see when lights go on?

What is it mixed with the dust?

What is it called as the dark slips on?

What is the darkest of blues?

The daylight ends as the planet spins and space invents the stars to set our

eyes upon.

The light they leaked as long ago as reptiles roamed now finds our

homes, and we see.

The neon whites and the colored lights reflect the hopes of hopeless nights;

and the moon alights — the highest lamp.
