Waiting for the sun

As we close our eyes

In the dead of night

Rooftops cry out loud

In the shadows bright

Lingered fears around my throat

Like some angel whore

Old moons tides run deep

Blind, black and undraped

These lonely trees

Bear precious fruit

These lowlands cry

In bitter heat

Cross these lonely trees

Then we filter down

To the sand

Beneath our feet

Knives that catch the waves

Dance in silver flames

As we kiss the deep

Life runs out of time

Pale hands drench our cries

Then bleach the sagging skin

Bear precious fruit

These lowlands cry

In bitter heat

Over mountain peaks

Into paths unknown

Under times we’ve heard about

Golden water burns

Like the wings of death

Molten sun reaps all our flesh

On the turning tides

Once bound in fright

Unchained to paradise

Waiting for the gifts

In the death of daylight

It’s all a game

This foolish pride
