Wartime Lies - In Strict Confidence

We’re ready for the battle with enemies we break

We all believe that winning is the prize at stake

Oh, hatred and despair immediately grow

If it’s the prize or loss, we’ll never really know

We keep ourselves in darkness, we lie and kill and cheat

To make us hate each other and with ourselves compete

Just lies, lies, lies, lies

When lies are music to my ear I change into a slave

I volunteer my heart and put it in a grave
