The moon was full and my heart was closed

A with dirty clothes

Eyes afraid as the darkness grows

I felt the thorns as I smelled the roads

Bittersweet were the years ahead

Memories that I left for dead

Life under the tears I shed

It shaped the world, at least the one I know

Down the highways and low days

Through the bliss and suffering

So many miles under water

And times when I could not stop smiling

Through it all, looking back, I wouldn’t change a single thing

The desert sleeps in the howling wind

The trees all look like skeletons

As I drive on this road again

I’m reminded of where I’ve been

I’ve been cold as ice on a summer’s day

Walked through the fire, didn’t feel the flames

I felt the love and then was thrown away

Yeah I’ve been without and haven’t looked within
