The Unsettling Dark - Martriden

Exploring the deep, pungent earth

Our minds create images, eyes can’t see

Forced on this road not by destiny

His flames plunge up from below

And we must fly!

Running along the unseen catacombs

The foulest of fears approaching

Deep inside the mountain

We mustered the beast

The foul demon incarnate

A colossus of terror pursues

We cannot get out

We can only run

As exhaustion takes its toll

And the end time for loved ones begins!

Sweat boils as we flee this nightmare

Heralding our doom

Its fiery wings thundering

His presence lying in shadow

The unsettling darkness gives way

To a glimmer of light

Before it makes the final lunge

Entwining us in its fiery ropes

Hurling us into the pit

Hopes leaves our hearts

Some grasp at the walls

Slightly prolonging their doom

All lights that once shone brightly

Dim as we tumble long

Into the dark places of the earth

Falling, forever!

We cannot get out

We can only run

The shade of malice

Draws ever closer

I bask in its essence

Forced upon this path towards oblivion

I channel the strength of my will

As the black shadow engulfs me

Permeating my flesh

Now, bound my blindness

I suffer alone in the dark

And as hatred

Fills my mind

Lost hope returns through vengeance

Execrations of a mind gone insane

Sullen, I loom forth into the dark
