You may have put in all your time, muscle, brains and sweat

Always has and always will

The only time they don’t take the credit

Is when it comes time to pay the bill.

You kept us busy chargin' fees for permits and dirt removal

Our engineers reviewed your plans — more taxes were collected

Every step along the way you had to be inspected

We did everything for you with all our government powers
