These days it’s normal to stay inside

While the calls of nature taunt you

Through the open window

Everything that used to be so much fun on its own

Has been crammed in a little black box

Now it’s antisocial

I think back to childhood

And simpler times with fondness

I miss talkin' on the phone

And hearin' your voice

I miss playin' 'round with friends

Out in the sunshine

These days I’d be too afraid to try

And I’m isolated from you

I’m an introvert, it seems

I just need to be alone

Didn’t just bring garbage and bills

Remember taking our bikes down the block

And racing in a loop?

I’m poor now

'Cause they know how to market nostalgia

But when it comes to these modern times

I’m out of the loop

When I think about the future

All I wanna do is fall asleep

I’m afraid for the future
