Evan by the light

She waits to hear my shoes

And through the night

She reads the Street Lamp News

You know she gets no news from me

And when the morning comes, end of my day

Dragging my way home

I can feel the cold

It whips across my face

I think of her, she brings me back to days

We laughed in warmer places then

But still the morning comes, end of my day

Lighting my way homeward

But when I see her smiling

Don’t leave my side, she might

I work at night and Evan works by day

And though I see her not at all

She’s got to know she’s mine
