You denigrate when the cover is off

You peeled it back, it felt dusty

You were too young to break

But the target was soft

Now the ordinance tossed into rough seas

And the Falklands absorbed in Malvinas

Seems great send the base through the top

Bit the foam and the froth and it disgusts me

The target signs won’t help

They’re calling off the heliport we used

They cancelled all their flights

And traded in their rotor blades for views

It’s the unpardonable sin so you sprinted back

And found out about the trouble in dereliction

The council broke cause the agenda was thin

So we complained about the eviction

We climbed atop a hill

And spat down at the newly empty town

The words we heard were shrill

The signs we saw enough to lure us down

We conked out on the porch

We woke up staring at the beachhead
