When I was sixteen

I developed a brain problem

I mean a real brain problem

I wanted to

I did it because I wanted to

And the problem would remit

But it wouldn’t get better

It wouldn’t quit

It would just fester

So, God grant me strength

To know what is a brain problem

And what is just me

When I was sixteen

I realised I had always had a brain problem

I wanted to

Drop dead right then and there

I wanted to live forever

And I can’t believe

I made it to twenty-three

Without a scratch on me

And the problem comes and goes

With the weather

And I know

Just 'cause it’s not getting better now

Doesn’t mean it won’t ever

So God grant me strength

To know what is a brain problem

And what is just me
