His hand reaches across medium and mainland

Holding, tightening, gripping, smothering,

and I swear if it ever lets up

I will never again ask for you’re protection

His gaze vicious as the eye of the hurricane

I was never prepared, unaware that I was

At the mercy of a miser once a friend

I followed his call into my city-sized grave
